The Eastern Kings Health Foundation Inc. (“the Foundation”, “we”, “us”) respects the privacy of our donors, volunteers and website visitors. We handle personal information in keeping with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Donors: your name, mailing address, email address, phone number and the details of your gift, so we can process your donation, issue an official tax receipt and thank you.
• People who contact us: the information you choose to share when you email, call or write to us, such as a story, a question or an idea for an event.
• Website visitors: anonymous usage information, such as the pages visited, the type of device and browser, and the general location (city or region), collected through Google Analytics.

How we use it

• To process gifts and issue tax receipts as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
• To thank donors and, where you have not asked us not to, share news about our work and fundraising.
• To respond to your questions and requests.
• To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.

Gift amounts are kept confidential. When a gift is made in memory or in honour of someone, we let the family or honouree know a gift was made, but we do not share the amount.

We never sell your information

We do not rent, sell or trade the personal information we collect, including our mailing lists. We share it only with service providers who help us carry out our work, and only as much as they need.

Online donations

Online donations are processed securely by CanadaHelps, a registered Canadian charity. When you donate through CanadaHelps, your payment information is handled by them and is never seen or stored by the Foundation. CanadaHelps shares your name, contact details and gift details with us so we can thank you, unless you choose to give anonymously. Their own privacy policy applies to information you give them.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies in your browser to count visits and see which pages are most useful. This information is anonymous and is not used to identify you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser opt-out add-on. The website does not use advertising cookies.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. Only board members and volunteers who need it for their role have access, and we keep donor records only as long as needed for receipting, legal and record-keeping requirements.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to stop sending you mail or email. Just contact us using the details below.
