Laerdal Nursing Anne Simulator — “Mannequin Annie”
A lifelike patient simulator purchased for Souris Hospital and Colville Manor, used to train current and new staff in hands-on patient care.
Every piece of equipment below was bought with money raised right here — by families, businesses, service clubs and a whole lot of Smile Cookies.
Along with our 2016 digital X-ray suite, here’s some of what the Foundation has bought in the last few years.

Replaced a 19-year-old blood count analyzer. Results are more accurate and faster, and pathologists can review cell images remotely before samples even reach the referral lab.
“This upgrade represents a major step forward in our ability to deliver timely and accurate diagnostic results.”

Computerized medications give nurses a built-in double check on every prescription, with far more storage so stock is on hand when it’s needed. The system was expanded in 2024.

Used regularly to monitor chest-related concerns for inpatients and for patients sent by local doctors, replacing an outdated system.

A renovated tub room with a lift for patients who can’t walk, plus a new shower room so staff can help patients shower safely. Funded with the Souris Lions Club, Maritime Electric, the Rotary Gold Mine and the Souris Fund.

An added layer of protection for public health clients and staff, made possible through the David A MacKay Fund.

Training equipment and AED training so staff are ready for a cardiac emergency, supported by David A MacKay Fund grants.
Four pressure-redistribution mattresses, a positioning chair, an ambulatory care stretcher, four over-bed tables, two isolation carts, a shower chair, a medication cart and books.
A grant from the Alzheimer Society of PEI Foundation Trust, passed on to Transportation East so people living with dementia can attend the local day program.
When Tim Hortons in Souris chose the Foundation for its 2024 Smile Cookie Campaign, Eastern Kings went all in. Neighbours sponsored a cookie for all 578 students and staff at Souris Regional School — bus drivers included — and CAFE sponsored every student and staff member at École La-Belle-Cloche. Businesses bought for their teams, and partway through the week Souris was leading the Island in cookie sales.
The week raised $9,121.50, and the community did it again in spring 2026.

We’re grateful to every donor, large and small. Here are some of the groups and families who have supported the Foundation recently.
