Town of Souris – Benefactor Level
Souris is Proud of its Residents and Business Community.
Souris may be small in numbers, but it proves to be mighty and influential.
With a population of approximately 1,200 people, Souris demonstrates that a small town can make big change.
Souris mayor, David MacDonald, couldn’t be prouder of the town’s response to this campaign.
“When it comes to generosity and contributing, this community has an excellent reputation. It’s something we’re quite proud of,” says MacDonald.
In the past, Souris residents have rallied together to help exceed fundraising goals. This campaign has been no exception.
On top of individuals donating, local businesses have offered a great deal of support. MacDonald is thrilled at the generosity of businesses.
“I’m very pleased with the response of the business community to this campaign. I think most of the major business in this area have jumped on board and have already donated,” says MacDonald.
Rural PEI has an aging community and the Town of Souris has made it a priority to support healthcare services. As a hub town in eastern PEI, many people use Souris’ hospital. Town council members and residents want to keep it running, with up-to-date equipment and services.
“We are the population centre of Eastern King’s. The hospital is within the borders of our town. So it’s to our advantage that we have a vibrant local hospital,” says MacDonald.
MacDonald says the town is thankful for the government’s continued support of local healthcare. To ensure residents of Souris and the surrounding communities have sustained access to local health services, MacDonald urges everyone to do their part in supporting the campaign.
“This hospital is for everyone in the community and we all should get aboard the train to keep it running.”
